Hard-hitting video follows veteran’s journey through VA bureaucracy, spotlights CHOICE Act solution
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 21, 2025 – Frontiers of Freedom today released “A Call for Help,” a video that follows a typical veteran’s struggle through the Department of Veterans Affairs disability benefit process and highlights the need for legislative reform. The video demonstrates many veterans’ experiences with the free help provided by veteran service organizations and highlights the emotional, psychological, and physical anguish that oftentimes accompanies a veteran’s journey navigating the VA disability process.
In “A Call for Help,” viewers witness a veteran facing repeated roadblocks as he attempts to get help to file his for his VA benefits after service, ultimately resulting in a denial.
With nearly 200,000 backlogged claims today, far too many of our nation’s heroes are trapped in a broken system, waiting for a decision from the VA for months if not years.
“Many know that the VA system is bureaucratic and filled with red tape, but not enough understand just how difficult it can be for a veteran to receive the benefits they earned in sacrifice to this country,” says president of Frontiers of Freedom, George Landrith. He continues, “’A Call for Help’ aims to shine a light on that broken system and advocate for a solution, HR 3132, the CHOICE Act.”
The CHOICE Act, introduced by retired three-star general Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI) and co-sponsored by House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-IL) and veterans Congressman Keith Self (R-TX) and Congressman Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), would protect veterans from predatory companies and guarantee their right to work with professional claims experts on initial filings. If veterans are able to work with experts in the VA’s disability process on initial claims, they are more likely to receive the rating they deserve the first time, keeping them out of the lengthy appeals process.
