Puerto Rico brought a little Old San Juan pizazz to Washington this week in a desperate attempt toshowcase the island’s stewardship of American tax dollars gifted to Puerto Rico from the Trump administration.
The Commonwealth was touting a $107 million FEMA disbursement for new energy modernization efforts. Yet, this week, FEMA cancelled a $151 million grant to the Asociación Hospital del Maestro (AHM) for failing to meet eligibility requirements and the misappropriation of funds.
Say what?
FEMA gave Puerto Rico $107 million and simultaneously cancelled a $151 million grant because funds were misappropriated.
This is taking place as dark clouds are on the horizon over the Commonwealth where several mayors are being implicated in a grand scheme to siphon public funds through construction excise and higher levy rates on those funds, which ultimately reduces the impact of federal reconstruction funds. Sadly, some of these redirected funds are used to bankroll parties and festivals.
The response from the Commonwealth to date?
Silencio.
With anti-fraud efforts topping the White House policy list, we just wonder when the investigators from DOJ and the FBI are going to show up.
Frontiers of Freedom urges federal agencies to investigate the Commonwealth’s ongoing scheme to redirect American taxpayer dollars.
