Sacramento, California –  Frontiers of Freedom announced today that its California veteran tele-town hall, held on November 13, 2025, reached tens of thousands of veterans and their families across the state, peaking at 10,241 listeners at one time. The discussion focused on the implications of California Senate Bill 694 and its potential impact on Veterans’ access to assistance when filing disability claims.

This event demonstrated how many California veterans are concerned about how SB 694 will negatively impact their lives,” said George Landrith. “The overwhelming level of participation reflects a clear desire for thoughtful policy that supports timely and effective access to earned benefits. Veterans were willing to put their lives at risk and they deserve policies that reflect our appreciation for their service.”

The nearly hour-long event focused on how SB 694 could restrict veterans’ ability to seek professional assistance when filing disability claims through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Moderated by George Landrith, President of Frontiers of Freedom, the forum featured insights from Donyale Hall of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, Scott Staples, a Marine Corps veteran from San Diego, and Sky Ainsworth, an Army veteran and longtime advocate from Imperial County.

Speakers warned that SB 694 would eliminate access to trusted, third-party assistance providers who help veterans navigate the VA system. A move that would worsen delays and limit options in already underserved communities. Participants shared stories of stalled claims, long wait times, and inadequate support from traditional sources, particularly in rural and low-income areas.

Throughout the call, veterans expressed concern that SB 694 would further burden communities with limited resources and create new barriers for those with complex or time-sensitive claims. Panelists emphasized the need for policy that expands access to qualified support, not eliminates it.

The event concluded with final remarks from panelists encouraging continued civic engagement and affirming the importance of ensuring that veterans’ perspectives are central to policy discussions.

Frontiers of Freedom will continue to facilitate educational forums and provide opportunities for veterans to engage directly with policymakers on issues that affect their benefits and wellbeing.
